Following on from the release of ‘Not Giving In’ last year, the band are back with their latest single ‘Hey It’s Me’. Exploring mental health struggles through their trademark indie-rock sound, the band look to put their stamp on 2025 ahead of their forthcoming EP.
The sound of a telephone ringing brings the listener to attention before the band's roaring indie-tinged riffs bring the town to life. Coupling groove-laden basslines with relatable, authentic lyricism, the track pushes forward with an alluring dancability, navigating the diversity of alt-rock with ease and finesse. Penned about the daily struggles of mental health, the track provides a narrative that not only shines a new light on these issues, but also empowers and ignites those on the other side of the speakers.
Diving into the release, the band comments, “This song is about that negative side of you, that voice inside your head, which is supposed to be your anxiety, touching on Mental Health challenges. We wanted a truly authentic sound when recording this track, almost a bit like the Rolling Stones.”
Hailing from High Wycombe, Broken Colours are a four-piece indie outfit who draw on the funked-up, rocky sensibilities to delivery truly electrifying performances. Taking cues from the likes of Jamiroquai and Arctic Monkeys, the band burst onto the scene with their acclaimed self-titled EP in 2016.
Touring the UK, Denmark and Italy, the band have shared the stage with the likes of The Blockheads, Jack Bugg, The Zutons and The Subways, reinforcing their must-see dynamic live shows. Looking forward to 2025, the band look to reassert themselves as a creative force to be reckoned with, with new music on the horizon.
